417 Sushi Club is an open group of friends who meet every Thursday to eat sushi together in downtown Springfield, Missouri.
The club originally began several years ago when Will Worsham, John Vaughan and several friends were meeting regularly to eat sushi at Izumi Hatake in downtown Springfield. Their weekly sushi time became so regular that they ultimately negotiated a special arrangement with the owners of the restaurant to form the weekly 417 Sushi Club. Will and John still host the sushi club every week except in the rare situation when they both cannot attend.
The 417 Sushi Club meets at Izumi Hatake at 302 East Walnut St. in downtown Springfield every Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
All sushi is chosen by the chef based on the number of people who have RSVPed to attend that day's 417 Sushi Club.
Price is $12 per person, plus drink, tax and tip.
You must reserve your spot at 417 Sushi Club before 11 a.m. each Thursday, and preferably by end of day on Wednesday. Reservations are made online through our Meetup group. Click here to join the 417 Sushi Club Meetup group so you can receive invitations and make reservations each week.
There is one rule to the 417 Sushi Club: Make sure you attend if you RSVP that you will be there. How much sushi the chef cooks and pricing is based on the number of reservations. If you fail to appear after making a reservation, it will not go well for you because someone probably paid for your sushi even though you weren't there.
You don't have to be a "member" to join the 417 Sushi Club. You just have to enjoy sushi, enjoy conversation, and keep an open mind.
Great thanks go out to Jay and Mia at Izumi Hatake for their gracious hosting and pricing of the 417 Sushi Club on a weekly basis.
